As part of my pre-wedding planning, I have a little questionnaire I ask my couples to complete. One of the questions asks whether they have any unique things planned that I need to be aware of, to which Ally and Ben replied “Look, it is Humpty Doo so nothing is planned so anything is possible.” I knew these were my kind of people.
As luck would have it, there was something unique that no one was expecting – a bushfire!
Not only was the fire in Humpty Doo, it was literally named the Doxas Road bushfire. The location of the wedding? Doxas Road. The NT firies did a great job of getting it under control and the wedding went ahead with the smell of smoke in the air and the sound of water bombers doing their things throughout the ceremony(!).

As the saying goes opposites attract. This could not be more accurate for us.
Ben is a down to earth, attention to detail, organised and efficient kind of guy. Who fell in love with a loud, talkative, chaotic ball of energy who sometimes forgets to put petrol in her car kind of girl!
In 2018 we both decided to dive into the scary world of online dating. We matched and after a couple of messages back and forth and a few false starts, we finally met and clicked immediately… and as they say, the rest is history.
We definitely bring out the best in each other and complement each other’s strengths and weaknesses.
Since being together we have achieved so much. After a beautiful proposal that included our kids, it’s time for the next chapter.
