Al Ru Farm Wedding in the Spring // Georgina and Stuart

FILED IN: Al Ru Farm, Wedding

Disco Stu doesn’t advertise. But if he did, Georgina would buy what he was selling, especially on a glorious spring afternoon at their Al Ru Farm wedding. These two lovebirds met online and bonded over a shared love of the Simpsons, before long they were arranging a real-life meet up and they both knew almost immediately that they had found someone special.

Q & A

Tell me about your The Beginning!

We met on a chat forum – talking about the Simpsons, as Stuart’s username was DiskoStu. We talked about shared cartoons, movies and sci fi shows/movies we like.
We met about 3 days later at my place and went for a walk along a nice pine tree walking trail in Old Reynella. I liked him that much i picked up a leaf on our walk, put it in my pocket and kept it as a memento, i thought he was pretty special right from the start.
From there we just dated between North and South suburbs for about 8 months before i moved in with him.

We would do our own picnics in the backyard, we explored Mclaren Vale, went to the beach for walks quite often and watched lots of old 80s movies in my lounge room, Stuart grew up not watching a lot of the classics, so i’ve had to educate him on what he’s missed.

Dates for us are really just Fasta pasta, movies and lots of window shopping at nerdy stuff. We have also done a bit of travel too, from Clare Valley to Naracoorte, Moonta and Tasmania.

When and where did you get engaged?

We got engaged in Singapore the day after Queen Elizabeth died, in the Royal Orchid garden which is humid, hot and beautiful. He picked a secluded spot under a green arbor, and asked me to marry him.
It was honestly one of the best days of my life, we had high tea and cocktails after and had a really lovely, intimate day together just basking in the glow.

What style/theme have you chosen for your Wedding Day?

Nerdy and colourful , if that’s a theme! We want little bits of lego, star wars/dnd references and with some dark, moody colours.

What are you most looking forward to on the day?

Spending time with each other, the food and good drinks. Celebrating with those who mean a lot to us. Not gonna lie, we are both looking forward to the dessert buffet.

Top Tips!

Don’t be afraid to break societal norms. Make it personal and meaningful to you!
That and prioritise early what you value most, be it food, photography, amazing music or venue.
