Mount Lofty Estate is one of Adelaide’s iconic venues, the fog rolling in over the Picadilly Valley is a sight to behold, and when you decide to have a winter wedding a few minutes drive from the highest point in Adelaide there’s a good chance the fog gods will along for the ride.
I was about halfway up Greenhill Road when I realised we were in for a foggy one. I managed to find and activate the fog lights in my car, but I could still barely see a few metres in front of me. As I turned into Mount Lofty Estate I was greeted with an ethereal sight, the main driveway flanked by tall leafless trees disappearing into a haze of fog. I raining pretty heavily at the time, but I made a mental note to return to that spot later in the day.
The frosty conditions outside made a beautiful contrast to the literal and metaphorical warmth inside as Sharon, Matt, their kids, family and guests were all incredibly lovely and welcoming. Many of the guests had travelled down from Queensland so the whole cold foggy vibe was a bit of a treat for them. As luck would have it, we managed to pop out for some photos later in the afternoon and managed to create a collection of unique and beautiful photos highlighting the magic of the Mt Lofty Ranges. We even returned to the spot on the driveway I noticed and the way in.
Sharon and Matt, thank you so much for inviting me along to document your day, this was one I won’t soon forget!
