Love stories are like fine wine – they get better with time. And so did the tale of Steph and Gabe, two small-town sweethearts who tied the knot on Saturday at their stunning O’Leary Walker wedding in the magical Clare Valley.
Steph and Gabe’s journey began in the charm of a close-knit community where everyone knew everyone. I learned on the day that Gabe was an absolute gentleman and waited until Steph was 18 before making his move on the dancefloor at the footy/netball club!!
One of the things I love about weddings is spending a day with the couple and figuring out what they’re all about, from how they are to what everyone says about them during the speeches. It was clear early on that Steph was an absolute sweetheart, a caring midwife with a heart of gold and a distinctive shot on the netball court, whereas Gabe was a natural at anything he turned his mind to, one of those bastards with a perfect golf swing and a razor-sharp mind.
With 120 of their favourite people on board, this was an unforgettable afternoon and evening filled with laughter and love and all the good things about life.

Q & A
Tell me about your The Beginning!
Gabe and I have always known of each other, growing up in the same small country town. Steph’s Dad always used to hassle us growing up, saying “Gabe will make a great son-in-law” one day. It was only as we grew up and started drinking/socialising that we grew closer (with encouragement from Gabe’s sister and our fathers). Our first kiss was in the middle of the dance floor at our local football club function, and one thing lead to another after that.
When and where did you get engaged?
We got engaged on 20/01/23 on Steph’s Grandma’s birthday (Steph’s Grandma, Polly, is very special to her) on Gabe’s family farm, on one of the highest hills, overlooking the countryside with our dog Ziggy by our side.
What style/theme have you chosen for your Wedding Day?
No specific style/theme. We are both very laid back and easy going and just plan for a day for everyone (including us) to enjoy!
What are you most looking forward to on the day?
Spending time with our nearest and dearest and of course the drinks to celebrate!
