I’ve always had jobs that have taken me all over town. In the 90s while I was at uni I worked for a catering company and we would travel to homes and businesses and sporting clubs and girl guide jamborees and all sorts of places and serve the most delicious roast meat and french onion potato bake known to man. In the 2000s I worked as an auditor for a number of years and would travel to businesses all over Adelaide striking fear into the hearts of business owners who had inconsistencies in their book keeping (truth be told I probably wasn’t enough of a bastard to be a great auditor).
Now in the 2010s I travel round the state and get invited into people’s homes to document them as they prepare to get married. This is a part of the job that I really love, I love seeing the family home where the bride grew up, or the new home that the bride and groom built last year, I love meeting the families and the wedding party and just being involved in a historic day for that particular family. Where possible I like to take some photos of the bride in her childhood bedroom, and in Alysha’s case I couldn’t have asked for a better backdrop. She had pink candy striped wallpaper covering a wall that was right next to a great big window that provided perfect light, and it’s fair to say she was pretty easy to photograph! The bridal portraits below are some of the favourite ones I’ve ever taken, partially because I just love how they look, but also because of where they were taken in a room full of memories.
The ceremony was held at Church of Epiphany in Crafers and the reception was just up the road at Mt Lofty House which was super handy, a 3 minute drive between venues is as good as it gets on a 40 degree day! It was an amazing day and I couldn’t be happier with the photos.
