I don’t do many family shoots so when I got a Facebook message from Sam asking if I’d be interested in shooting her family I jumped at the chance. Sam is the sister of Dan and her family consists of Mum, Dad and 2 and 8/9ths children so it pretty much turned into a kids / maternity / family shoot, and it was a lot of fun.
We started at their house up the hills, fortunately there was a massive window across the front of the house that just streamed beautiful soft light into the living room, who needs a studio when natural light comes to the party? After spending some time there we headed down to the local park for some more fun. If there’s one thing I know about shooting kids it’s that they don’t like to sit still, or smile, or pose, or generally co-operate with a photographer for any longer than they have to, so why make them? If you get them at the park or somewhere they love to be and just take photos of them being kids the results are a millions times better and more natural than a stuffy studio shoot. Nath and Sam, thanks for a fun day, hope you like the photos!
And some like to tie their wrists together with ribbons and force you to take their photo!
I’ll be putting some more photos up on my Facebook page in the next couple of days so if you’re interested in seeing some more shots from the day feel free to head on over and “like” me so the photos show up in your news feed when they’re up.
