It’s not every day you get to shoot a wedding on a movie set, but that’s exactly what Brooklyn Farm brings to the table. Roughly 10 years ago Scott Hicks (best known as the director and screenwriter of the Oscar-winning Shine) made a movie starring Hollywood heartthrob Clive Owen in little old South Australia – just near McLaren Vale to be precise. The Boys Are Back is a beautiful move that will have you in tears in the first 10 minutes and is set in and around this gorgeous old homestead, except it isn’t actually old, it was built specifically for the movie but made to look old. This homestead that now makes up the centrepiece of Brooklyn Farm. Needless to say, it’s a wedding photographer’s dream.
Carissa and Jeff were the ideal couple for such a venue, and their vision and execution of the day was just perfect. Super laid back vibe, outdoor ceremony under an old gum, roaming wood oven pizzas for dinner, Woolshed beers on taps thanks to a personal connection and a huge field for the guests to pitch a tent for the night. Throw a super fun wedding party, spectacular weather and an epic sunset into the mix and you end up with an unforgettable day.
