When it comes to weddings, there’s nothing new under the sun. At least that’s what I used to think, but every now and then a wedding comes along that is unlike anything I’ve seen in my nearly 500 unions to date, and Mel and Jack’s whimsical afternoon at Simon Hackett Winery was one of those weddings. The venue was decked out in giant oversized (plastic) flowers that were straight out of Alice in Wonderland, and their cocktail-style reception was absolutely bursting with colour and fun.
They first met at school, and it wasn’t long before Jack asked Mel to the Year 12 formal. Not long after, things took a big step forward when Jack proposed at Mark Oliphant Park, a place that already meant a lot to him, having lived there when he was born while his parents worked as park rangers. It was a pretty special full-circle moment.
