Rain, Umbrellas and a Wet Wedding // Amber and Sam

South Australia decided to deliver a proper wet wedding for Amber and Sam’s big day. It didn’t end up being as much as it could have been, but the non-stop drizzle across basically the entire day provided a beautiful, moody backdrop to the proceedings.

Amber (and to a much lesser extent, Sam) were all over things and arranged for a spectacular, transparent marquee to be erected on the Golding lawns, which allowed the day to run largely as planned.

Amber and Sam are the kind of couple who already lean towards the outdoors anyway, so a bit of weather was never going to scare them off. These two are big fans of winery trips, beach walks, and weekend escapes around the Adelaide Hills. One of their favourite date nights actually involved sitting on Henley Beach at midnight in the pouring rain with takeaway pizza and a bottle of whiskey. So a wet wedding was actually very much on-brand.

Their adventures together have taken them much further than the local beaches too. One of the biggest highlights was a trip to Europe where Sam proposed on Lake Hallstatt in Austria. Picture a quiet little boat drifting across the lake, a castle sitting on the waterfront, and a ring appearing at just the right moment. Not a bad engagement story.

Despite the rain, the day rolled along exactly how a wedding should. Friends, family, plenty of laughs and a couple of umbrellas working overtime. At the end of it all, Amber and Sam were married, which is the main box that needs ticking.
