This was my first wedding at the Brae Dawesley and boy oh boy it did not disappoint! It didn’t hurt that Jane and Del are a couple of tens and that their wedding party were extremely colourful literally and figuratively. The perfect early autumn weather also made my job pretty easy, but the venue itself is right in my wheelhouse and I absolutely loved shooting there. Informal, relaxed, outdoors, tick tick tick.
I started the day with Del and the boys getting ready. I discovered quickly that Del is a man who likes to get things done, I turned my back for a brief moment and before I knew it he was downstairs and on the tools grinding down a tie holder that wasn’t quite the right size. From there I headed to Jane‘s parents house where the girls were getting ready and I was met with three of the most colourful bridesmaids dresses I’ve ever seen, I always love to see non-matching bridesmaids dresses, it brings such a fun element to the day.
Before long we headed up the hill to the Brae Dawesley and they got married underneath an incredible gumtree on top of a hill, a classic Australian landscape. After a few photos we had it down for canapés on the lawns with the barn in the background, this was followed by a delicious dinner and some hilarious speeches.
The final formality of the evening was a remarkable choreographed dance, which involved Jane and Del spelling out the letters to Nat king Cole’s L-O-V-E using only their bodies. I spent most of the time marvelling at their core strength, flexibility and body control!
Jane and Del thank you so much for inviting me to document your wedding. It was an incredible day ❤️

Q & A
Tell me about your The Beginning!
We met at a uni party at the bar. Our first date was a coffee and walk around Mt Lofty and the hills. We went on a date every day after that for a week.
When and where did you get engaged?
Del gave Jane a pair of steelcap boots as a decoy on our 8 year anniversary. We then hiked up Brownhill at dawn, where we went on one of our first dates, and Del proposed looking down at the house we’d bought together a few weeks before.
