Botanic Gardens Wedding // Lucy and Will

Lucy and Will had a very short engagement and planned their entire Botanic Gardens wedding in about three months. They were thrilled to see that the Gardens were available at such short notice (on a Saturday in March!) and it wasn’t until after they had secured the venue that they realised Womad was on that weekend, right next door! Nevermind, their reception venue Victoria Park Social Club was far enough from Womad and the Fringe to provide tranquillity – plot twist – the Adelaide motorsport festival was happening about 30 metres away on the very same day!!

The Story In Words

From a Chance Meeting to Forever: The Love Story of Will & Lucy

Will and Lucy’s love story is a beautiful reminder of how fate can work in mysterious ways. Their journey began at Bonnie’s going-away party in 2021, where a brief meeting led to a lasting impression. “We were both in relationships at the time, so nothing came of it,” Lucy recalls, but she couldn’t stop talking about how cute Will was and his “amazing arms.”

Two years later, both single, they crossed paths again at a mutual friend’s wedding. Lucy was caught off guard when Will approached her, having no idea he’d be there. “He gave me a big hug and said, ‘Hey Lucy!’” After the ceremony, Lucy learned that Will had recently become single. The two were seated next to each other by chance, and from that moment on, their connection was undeniable.

The following day, they went on their first beach walk, and from there, they spent the entire week together before Lucy had to return to Darwin. “We fell deep and fast,” she says. Three weeks later, they decided to make it official, and just a week after that, Lucy moved to Adelaide to be with Will.

The Proposal

Will chose a secluded beach at Point Brown, near Smoky Bay, South Australia, for his proposal. “It was just me, him, and Obi (the dog),” Lucy shares. On October 15, 2024, Will popped the question, marking the beginning of their next adventure.

The Wedding: A Go-With-the-Flow Celebration

For their wedding, Will and Lucy are keeping things relaxed and fun. “We’ve gone for a ‘go with the flow’ vibe,” Lucy says. The couple is excited to celebrate their love with a colorful and joyful atmosphere surrounded by family and friends.

Looking Forward to the Big Day

Both Will and Lucy are excited for certain moments on their big day. Lucy can’t wait to see Will’s teary eyes when she walks down the aisle with her father. Will, on the other hand, is looking forward to seeing Lucy after a night apart and celebrating their love with everyone they care about.

Top Tips for Future Brides and Grooms

Lucy has one key piece of advice: “Give yourself more than four months to plan! And don’t try to do it all on your phone in the middle of nowhere!” It’s a lesson she’s learned well during their whirlwind planning process.

Will and Lucy’s love story shows that sometimes, love finds you when you least expect it. Their wedding will be a beautiful celebration of their love, and we can’t wait to see them start this next chapter together.
