I hate to say it, but you could make a pretty good case that the rest of the world does weddings better than we do. Whether it’s a French wedding that typically kicks on until the sun comes up the next morning or a Lebanese wedding that has the most insane drumming to get the reception started, these international wedding traditions are arguably a step up from a pants down shuffle to the Eagle rock.
I’ve had the honour of shooting a number of Indian weddings over the years, these multi-day festivals are an incredible celebration filled with colour, laughter and life – from the Mehndi and Haldi in the days before the wedding, to the ceremony itself (complete with a real-life fire on the stage and tasty meals served to the guests as they watch). Akrati and Chris are two of the loveliest people you could ever meet, and their celebration was perfect, it was an absolute joy to spend so many hours over a number of days documenting it all.
