If I was writing a manual on how to do a wedding I’d use Kat and Steve’s day as my blueprint.
Step 1 – find a property, ideally in the hills and surrounded by gum trees
Step 2 – Build a dance floor from wooden crates and erect a marquee (it helps if the groom is an engineer)
Step 3 – Have a well stocked bar
Step 4 – Get 2 Fat Blokes in to make pizzas
Step 5 – Get your family and friends to come along
Step 6 – Arrange an amazing sunset
Step 7 – Party like it’s 1999
There’s obviously a bit more to it, like finding the person you want to spend the rest of your life with, selecting an awesome wedding party and getting a kick ass celebrant (the fantastic Sarah Warwick in the case), but at the core of it a wedding is just a great big party which starts with two people making promises to each other in front of their family and friends and Kat and Steve absolutely nailed it.
Interesting side note – Steve is one of five siblings, back in 2010 I photographed his sister Jacqui’s wedding and in 2014 I shot his brother Haydn’s wedding where Steve was a groomsman, three down, two to go!
