One of the things I love about weddings is how everyone does things a little bit differently. As a general rule it’s normally pretty relaxed when the guys are getting ready, there’s really not much they need to do besides throwing on a suit, sprucing up their hair (and sometimes getting their photographer to tie a double windsor for everyone in the wedding party!). By contrast the girls are usually a little more hectic, there are generally more people, more nerves and more chaos!
The contrast between Becky and Simon’s preparations was fantastic. A couple of the groomsmen rocked up on motorbikes you could hear from the end of the street, and then once everyone was suited up they headed to the music room, turned the amps up to 11 and just rocked out for a solid 30 minutes. My ears were still ringing as I arrived at the girls’ place, a beautiful house tucked away in the Adelaide Hills surrounded by nature with floor to ceiling windows. It was quiet, tranquil, peaceful and very lady like as opposed to the masculinity of the mosh pit I’d left behind. The wedding was held at Flinders Street Baptist Church and after some photos in and around the CBD we headed out to the John Di Fede centre for the reception (and about 15 courses!). It was a beautiful, unique wedding full of laughter and happy times. And not too much chaos.
