The BEST camera in the world

FILED IN: Gear, Personal

I own the best camera in the world. And so do you. And so does everyone walking around with a camera built into their mobile phone, or with a point and shoot in their handbag.

The best camera is the one that’s with you.

As part of my series of Borneo posts (the series is titled “Drawing blood from a stone”) I thought I’d include a selection of photos from my point and shoot. For obvious reasons you can’t have your SLR on hand 24/7 on holiday, but if you have pockets there’s no reason not to have something smaller on standby just in case. Also, I don’t think my SLR would like it much underwater whereas my point and shoot is happy to be taken 3m beneath the earth’s surface (even if it’s virtually impossible to see the screen and compose shots with any degree of precision – the spray and pray approach was the best I could muster underwater).

Without further ado I present some of my point and shoot favourites.

Sipadan Island – one of the top 5 dive sites in the world and comfortably the best diving I’ve ever done.

Sandakan by night.

Kota Kinabalu markets

“Doctor” fish that eat the dead skin on your feet. This photos doesn’t get close to doing it justice, at times up to 8 fish would be nibbling away – it was brilliant!!

Nemo has been FOUND!

Boys and girls.

Hmmmm, gimme 30 litrtes of cappucino, stat.

Enjoy the long weekend Australia, why not take your camera along and snap a few shots?
